Sky’s Her Limit

Sydney FC Foundation’s unique program, Sky’s Her Limit, aims to ensure that girls can access the wellbeing benefits of sport through sustained participation.

By breaking down the barriers that females face in sport, Sky’s Her Limit will empower young females, foster inclusivity, and improve their retention rates in sport.

Research identifies an alarming disparity in participation in sport between young girls and boys aged 11-17 in Australia.

Independent research conducted by Snapcracker Research in 2019 found that:-

  • Australian girls (aged 11-17) take part in 1 hour and 18 minutes less sport than their male counterparts per week

  • Only 55% of Australian girls of the same age play sport, compared to 69% of boys

  • 46% of girls aged 15-17 decreased their participation in sport compared to only 30% of boys over a 12-month period &

  • Nearly 50% of girls turn their back on sport by aged 17

Recognising the significance of early adolescence as pivoting point for participation in sport, the Sky’s Her Limit program aims to:-

  • Educate girls about the benefits of sport

  • Instil confidence

  • Introduce inspiring female role models

  • Mitigate the factors contributing to the decline in participation rates.

  • “The day was nothing short of amazing! Our football players at Randwick Girls High School were fully engaged in a range of enlightening workshops led by the charismatic Sydney FC professional women's players, including Jordan Thompson, Faye Bryson, and Millie Farrow. Their enthusiasm was infectious, and it was clear that they genuinely care about inspiring the next generation of female athletes. I cannot recommend the "Sky's Her Limit" program highly enough! The positive impact it has on young females is truly inspiring, and we were so impressed that we are eager to have Sydney FC back for future sessions.”

    Daniel Gonzalez, Randwick High School

  • We were so lucky to have Jordan, Faye and Millie come to our school and work with our female football players. Our girls absolutely loved having the opportunity to ask questions, play football and gain valuable insights from them. They created a safe and supportive space for our girls, allowing our girls to leave the session with confidence and excitement. We can't wait for them to visit us again next season!
