Sydney FC Foundation Steps Out for Cancer

The Sydney FC Foundation proudly joined the 2025 Tour de Cure ‘Step Out for Cancer’ walk, uniting with the community to raise crucial funds for the Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre. The event was a fantastic opportunity for the Foundation to celebrate community spirit, while making a real difference in the fight against childhood cancer.

Throughout the walk, the Foundation team engaged with hundreds of participants, creating a fun, hands-on experience for all ages. The inflatable football pitch was a major hit, giving participants the chance to enjoy playing, whilst sharing laughs with family and friends. Fans also enjoyed meeting Sydney FC players and collecting autographs from Joe Lacey, Marin France, Skye Halmarick, Hana Lowry, and Alyse Oppedisano, creating memorable moments that will be cherished long after the event.

By stepping out for cancer, the Foundation reinforced its commitment to making a positive impact beyond the pitch. Funds raised will directly support the Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre, helping drive world-class research, treatment, and care for children facing cancer. The event highlighted the power of sport and community working together to tackle major health challenges.

“Being part of Step Out for Cancer lets us combine our love of football with our passion for giving back,” said Jake Cohen, Sydney FC Foundation Programs and Partnerships Manager. “Engaging with so many participants, young and old, and helping raise funds for such an important cause was truly inspiring. Seeing the smiles, energy, and enthusiasm on the day reminded us why community programs are at the heart of what we do.”

As the Foundation continues to expand programs like Sky’s Her Limit, Powerchair, and Empowers Me, events like Step Out for Cancer show the power of sport, community, and shared purpose in creating real change. It was an event full of connection, giving, and support for children and families impacted by cancer, underscoring the Foundation’s role as a force for good, both on and off the field.
